Intern with JASA!

Applications for Fall Internship Now Open!

Are you interested in Japanese culture or curious about how a non-profit organization operates? Perhaps you're studying Japanese, International Relations, or Business and need internship credit?

Consider interning with JASA! You'll network with Japanese business leaders, practice Japanese with local speakers, and gain hands-on experience in event coordination, social media marketing, and more.

Intern responsibilities vary daily and seasonally based on our events. You'll have opportunities to work in social media marketing, writing, economic development research, and event planning.


Job Responsibilities for Fall 2026:

ー Maintain communications and post updates to all JASA social media networks including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn

ー Post news, events, and cultural information to our website

ー Assist with the coordination of monthly Japanese cultural events like language and cooking classes as well as larger-scale annual events such as the Annual Celebration Dinner & Business Forum, November 4th-5th - this year in Huntsville!

ー Assist with the creation of a monthly newsletter

ー Reach out to organizations in the state that have connections to Japan and Japanese culture

ー Attend board meetings and networking events with members

ー Manage our membership list and keep track of invoices and contact information

ー Opportunity to travel to events around Alabama on behalf of JASA


Position requirements:

ー Commitment 9 to 12 hours a week remote from a computer, with some in-person presence required

ー Must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a program at an accredited university

ー Knowledge of Japanese language is not required, but a demonstrated interest in Japanese culture is preferred

ー Knowledge of Microsoft Office


What we offer:

A hands-on internship experience in a non-profit organization with a focus on international relations and cultural exchange

ー Opportunities to network with Japanese business leaders, government representatives, and professionals

ー Flexible, part-time hours to accommodate your academic schedule

$500 stipend (dispersed as a one-time payment)
