Each year, the Alabama Department of Commerce releases the New and Expanding Industry Report containing information about new projects and capital investment across the state. This report can be found on the department's website, madeinalabama.com. In 2019, Japan was a top country for foreign direct investment in Alabama, with 23 new projects, approximately 2,000 new jobs created, and over $983 million in investment. Pharmavite LLC is part of the Japanese holding company Otsuka, a company that for the past 99 years has been a player in the global pharmaceutical and nutraceutical markets. Headquartered in the Los Angeles, CA. Area, Pharmavite is the proud maker of nature made, an established and widely recognized brand of vitamins and supplements in the United States.
In 2012, the company expanded its operations to include a greenfield site in Opelika, AL. The plant in Opelika produces softgels, tablets and gummies under the nature made and megafood brands.
With 400 employees, Opelika is the largest manufacturing site in Pharmavite. In 2019, the company invested to expand operations that included the installation of a 7th softgel line, and began producing all of the gummies for the megafood brand. In 2019 the plant arrived at a milestone of having 400 employees.

Topre America Corporation is a Japanese owned industry leader in metal stamping and assembly technologies. We are a 3 shift Tier One Suppler to the Automotive Industry with 5 plants located in AL, MS TN, and OH. Our Corporate headquarters in Cullman, AL is our largest campus with just under 1,000 employees.
Topre America was able to secure business, building, and structural components for a new Nissan SUV. This program provided an additional 140 jobs to the community and we are excited to be involved with the SUV market.

TOYOTA BOSHOKU AKI USA, LLC is a joint venture company between Toyota Boshoku America, Inc. (TBA), which is the North & South America Regional Management & Collaboration Hub of Toyota Boshoku Japan, and AKI USA Corporation, which is the US joint venture between Delta Kogyo and Toyo Seat.
TOYOTA BOSHOKU AKI USA, LLC (TBAKI USA) was established to produce automotive seats for delivery to Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, U.S.A., Inc. and is scheduled to begin production in the latter half of 2021. The joint venture represents 60 million dollar in capital with the hiring plan of approximately 400 team members by start of production. Construction of our 400,000 square foot facility is complete and equipment installation is now progressing. We are proud to call Alabama our new sweet home.

The award recognizes manufacturing suppliers for outstanding achievements in areas such as innovation, quality, safety and commitment to the community. | Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama, located in Huntsville, began production in 2003 as the first Toyota plant outside of Japan to build V8 engines. Since then, the plant has expanded five times and is the only Toyota plant globally to produce 4- cylinder, V6 and V8 engines under one roof. The facility's most recent expansion, announced in March 2019, adds two new production lines and, upon completion, 450 new jobs with a total investment of $1.2 billion. |
