Who should attend: Fully fluent bilingual individuals in Alabama who have a desire to help crisis victims in
their community. This training is designed to teach professional interpreting -- and prepare participants for working
with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and other violence.
Participants also learn interpreting procedures for common settings (Immigration, Counseling, etc.) and cultural
competencies (LGBTQ, Disabilities, etc.).
Course requirements: Total of 42 hours training through a combination of online sessions, full-day in-person
workshop, practicum and final interview.

Trainers: Our lead trainer, Carola E. Green, has 20+ years experience in professional interpreting as well as teaching
and training interpreters. She is co-author of several national publications about interpreting in the legal
and medical fields including the innovative curriculum “Breaking Silence: Interpreting for Victim Services.”
Other trainers include AshaKiran staff and subject matter experts who have experience working with
victims and/or victim service providers.

Application fee is $25. There is no additional cost for this training, however we
request 10 volunteer hours for AshaKiran and/or our partners.
