Ouchigohan! - May 2026

  • 16 May 2026
  • 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Join Table for Two, a network of Japan-America Societies, and the US JET Alumni Association for a virtual Japanese cooking class - Ouchigohan!

Saturday, May 16

6:00 - 7:30 PM ET | 5:00 - 6:30 PM CT

JASA or other JAS/JS Members: $10

Non-Members: $15

This May, we will finish our EdamameChamp theme with Kei-chan yaki, a specialty of Gifu prefecture: flavorful miso-marinated chicken thighs stir-fried with cabbage and vegetables. Rice with spring peas compliments in taste and simplicity. We will finish off the class with a Strawberry Matcha Latte. Once you learn the trick to this specialty drink you will be able to make your own and save money on this expensive coffee-house drink. This class is simply delicious!

This class will be taught by Debra Samuels, lead curriculum and recipe developer for Wa-Shokuiku, a program of TABLE FOR TWO USA. Debra is an author of two cookbooks and co-author of Japanese Cooking for Kids, TFT’s new cookbook and the 2020 recipient of the John E. Thayer III Award for Outstanding Contributions to Cultural Exchange Between the United States and Japan.
