2022 New and Expanding Japanese Company Recognition

The Alabama Economic Development Impact Report (formerly known as the New & Expanding Report) is produced annually by the Alabama Department of Commerce to provide a detailed look at economic development activity across the state. This report can be found on the Business Development Division's website, madeinalabama.comThe 2022 report contains information about 229 projects that resulted in a record $10.1 billion in new capital investment and over 13,000 new and future jobs. The report features county-by-county breakdowns and rankings, along with information about foreign direct investment in the state.

Japanese companies invested $289,200,000 with 6 new projects and 411 new jobs created in 2022. JASA will recognize the 2022 New and Expanding Japanese companies in our Annual Celebration Dinner which will be held on November 9, 2023 at Birmingham Ross Bridge.

Producing one-third of Toyota’s engines in the U.S. at its 1.3 million-square-foot facility, TMMAL is the only plant to build four-cylinder, V-6 and twin-turbo under one roof. TMMAL powers popular Toyota vehicles like the Highlander, Sienna, RAV4, Corolla, Corolla Cross, Tundra, Tacoma and Sequoia.
