2023 New and Expanding Japanese Company Recognition

The Alabama Department of Commerce has released its annual "New and Expanding Industry Report" for 2023. This report, which offers information about new projects and capital investment across the state, can be found on the department's website, madeinalabama.com. In 2023, Japanese companies invested $95 million into Alabama with the expansion of 6 projects and created 96 jobs.

American Honda Motor Co.

Since the start of production in 2001, the $2 billion manufacturing facility in Lincoln has incorporated innovative manufacturing technologies shared by Honda facilities around the globe. Cullman Casting Corporation (CCC)

Topre America Corporation is a Japanese owned industry leader in metal stamping and assembly technologies. We are a 3 shift Tier One Suppler to the Automotive Industry with 5 plants located in AL, MS TN, and OH. Our Corporate headquarters in Cullman, AL is our largest campus with just under 1,000 employees.

Topre America was able to secure business, building, and structural components for a new Nissan SUV. This program provided an additional 140 jobs to the community and we are excited to be involved with the SUV market.

Engine producer, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Alabama (TMMAL), employs more than 1,900 team members and builds more than 3,000 engines each day. Producing one-third of Toyota’s engines in the U.S. at its 1.3 million-square-foot facility, TMMAL is the only plant to build four-cylinder, V-6 and twin-turbo under one roof. TMMAL powers popular Toyota vehicles like the Highlander, Sienna, RAV4, Corolla, Corolla Cross, Tundra, Tacoma and Sequoia.

Fast Facts:

- Toyota Alabama produces one-third of all Toyota engines built in the U.S.

- Only Toyota plant globally to have built 4-cylinder, V6 and V8 engines under one roof.

- Three out of four production lines produce both combustion and hybrid engines.

Investments, Jobs and Production:

- Eight major investments and six building expansions since groundbreaking in 2001.

- The latest $222 million investment creates a new 4-cylinder engine line and will support HEV production. Project to be complete in the fall of 2023.

- Only Toyota plant in North America to build the Twin Turbo V6 engine.
