Kayoubikai (火曜日会)is our monthly outing to a local Japanese restaurant. Held on one Tuesday of every month, Kayoubikai is an opportunity to meet new friends with similar interests, practice Japanese, and stay connected with other JASA members. While membership is not mandatory to attend the event, we encourage registering for individual membership to support JASA and stay involved with our events!

Each year, the Japan-America Society of Alabama hosts a special reception and fundraiser to allow our members and guests from all over Alabama to gather, network, and dine with a special program to celebrate the JASA community.

Our 2024 Annual Celebration Dinner and Business Forum will be held at Birmingham Ross Bridge in November. Stay tuned for more information about tickets and sponsorship opportunities!

Each year, we celebrate with food, crafts, performances, and other activities at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens’ Japanese Garden to welcome the Spring. Join us in April 2023 for Hanami (flower viewing) in Birmingham! Cherry Blossoms, or sakura (桜、さくら), only bloom for a few weeks each year.  In Japanese culture, sakura represent mortality and remind viewers of the beauty and transience of life. Thousands of people flock to parks in Japan to see the blossoms. Come see our Birmingham cherry trees while they are in bloom!
